What a fall sports season our high school teams put on! This article will recap each high school sports teams season. Those sports include Football, Boys & Girls Soccer, Boys & Girls Golf, Boys & Girls Cross Country, Volleyball and Cheerleading. In the future, we will highlight every team seperately as their season progresses and ultimately ends. Since we're just getting started as a news source and the fall sports season is completed, we will cover all fall sports here in one section.
Football
The Streetsboro High School Football team had a great season, finishing with an overall record of 10-2 and a Metro Athletic Conference (MAC) record of 6-1. The Rockets only regular season loss came at the hands of MAC Champions, the Norton Panthers. The team entered the playoffs as the 5th seed, where they got past their first opponents, the Beaver Local Beavers, by a score of 41-20. The Rockets then traveled to West Branch to take on the Warriors. Unfortunately, the Rockets suffered a close loss of 31-28.
Individually, Senior Preston Hopperton had one of the best seasons of any Streetsboro athlete and football player the school has ever seen. Some strive to get on the record board one time, but Preston earned his spot on the record board nine times!

Girls Soccer
The Streetsboro High School Girls Soccer team had another incredible fall sports season. The girls were MAC Champions for the 5th time in school history and 5th time in the last seven seasons. The girls soccer team defeated Cloverleaf in the MAC Championship Game (held at Kent State's Dix Stadium) by a score of 2-1. The girls finished the season with an overall record of 15-3-3 and a MAC record of 9-0-1.
The girls entered the playoffs on a great note, winning the Sectional Championship and winning their way to the District Championship game. They ultimately fell to Canfield by a score of 8-0, but earned District Runners-Up honors. The soccer team as a whole earned the Portage County Team of the Year award.
The girls soccer team had many individual accomplishments, including two school records. Senior Lainey Klein broke the single season record for shut outs with 12 and tied the career record for shut outs with 18. Head Coach, Ryan Willard, earned Portage County Coach of the Year and MAC Coach of the Year honors. Junior Madelyn Genovese eanred Portage County Player of the Year honors. Many other girls were recognized for their efforts during the season and those honors are listed below.

Boys Soccer
The Streetsboro High School Boys Soccer team was led by Portage County Coach of the Year, Head Coach, Paul Krzeminski, and finished with an overall record of 9-6-4 and a MAC record of 4-1-2. That league record earned the team 3rd place in the MAC. The boys team was eliminated in the 1st round of tournament play.

Boys & Girls Golf
The Streetsboro High School Golf Teams have been on the rise lately. The girls were led by MAC Coach of the Year, Head Coach, Tim Foster, and MAC Golfer of the Year, Senior Samantha Clark. The boys finished 3rd in the MAC and the girls finished 2nd. Both teams ended their season at the Sectional Tournament. In the Sectional Tournament, the boys played 5th and the girls placed 12th.

Boys & Girls Cross Country
The Streetsboro High School Cross Country program boosted some of its largest numbers of late. There were 13 boys and 21 girls who competed throughout the season. The boys team placed 5th in the MAC and ended their season at the District Meet where they placed 13th. The girls placed 4th in the MAC, only 7 points from 3rd, and finished 6th at the District Meet, which earned the girls a trip to Regionals for the 1st time in 20 years! The girls competed at the Boardman Regional Meet and placed 20th. The teams only graduated 3 seniors, meaning a lot of returning runners are coming back for 2024 and are looking to make another strong push.

Volleyball
The Streetsboro High School Volleyball team was led by first year head coach, Holly Vertock. Coach Vertock quickly looked to instill consistency in the program, as she is the 3rd coach in as many years. The girls rallied and finished the season with an overall record of 13-11 and a MAC record of 8-6. This earned the girls a 4th place finish in the MAC. The team was able to secure a nice victory in the first round of the tournament when they defeated West Geagua 3-2. However, the girls would fall in the next round to eventual District Champions, Kenston, by a score of 3-0.
A few of the Rocket players were recognized for their individual performances. Shemayah Stevens exceeded a career high, 1000 assists. Senior Maiya Taylor was nominated and chosen to play in the District All-Star game on 11/17. The individuals honored in the MAC and District are listed below.

The Streetsboro High School Cheerleading team brought the fun and excitement every Friday night at the football games. The girls also competed at the MAC Cheer Showcase, where they earned 2nd place!
